He was born on May 1, 1999, and is the son of Jamie Demons-King.

YNW Melly was arrested in February 2019 for the alleged drive-by shooting murders of Christopher Thomas Jr and Anthony Williams, known as YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser respectively.
Both men were members of the rap group YNW Melly is a part of, and were killed in October 2018.
He has been in Broward main jail since then despite calls for his release during the coronavirus pandemic.
Ahead of the trial, the court judge lowered the threshold for a death sentence if YNW is convicted.
The death penalty can now be recommended by the jury on an 8-4 split rather than a unanimous vote.
