Former Disney channel actress and singer Debby Ryan has avoided jail time after being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. The 23-year-old pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving, and was sentenced to a $300 (£225) fine along with three years' probation.
The star failed a sobriety test back in April earlier this year after she crashed her 2016 Audi into a Mercedes-Benz after making a left-hand turn in L.A., and was subsequently arrested with DUI charges. However, as her blood alcohol level was .11, which is just over the legal limit of .08, the DUI charge was brought down to a misdemeanour of alcohol-related reckless driving.

The star, who is best known for her roles as Bailey Pickett on The Suite Life on Deck and as Jessie Prescott in Disney channel show Jessie, has also been ordered to participate in an alcohol program, a Victim Impact program and Hospital Morgue program. She will also have to attend court again in September to pay damages for the Mercedes.
At the time of her arrest, the actress took to Twitter to apologise to fans and address the charges, writing: "Over the last few days I have had the chance to think about my actions, and I wish I had used better judgement.

"I recognise that I am a role model and have always worked hard to set a good example for my millions of fans. I am so sorry to disappoint everyone."
Although Debby has yet to comment on the judge's ruling, the star posted a snap of a beautiful beach scene following the case, writing: "life's a beach."
